The Knights Dismantle Houston 44-21

UCF defeats Houston 44-21 on October 31, 2020

HOUSTON, TX – Coming off a 2-game losing streak, with this win against Houston, UCF now finds themselves in possession of their own 2-game winning streak (4-2).

UCF came into this game averaging 45.2 points per game and lived up to their season average.

The Knights were absolutely dominant through 3 quarters as the Cougars had no answer for their high-powered offense. UCF was up 23-13 before blowing the game wide open in the 4th scoring 21 points, decimating the Cougars and improving to 4-2 on the season.

The Knights tallied 681 total yards of offense and while Gabriel had a solid game by his standards (328 passing yards, 2 TDs), it was the rushing attack that dominated throughout the game. RB’s Otis Anderson and Greg McCrae combined for 32 carries for 277 yards on the ground and 2 scores.

“We had some things going in the pass game early, then we were able to run the ball with a light box and our guys up front imposed their will. I thought our running backs did a tremendous job pressing the line of scrimmage and bouncing when it was the right time, but then getting back vertical and they won a lot of one-on-one matchups in open space against safeties too”, said Coach Heupel on his RB’s dominant outing.

The Knights were again solid on 3rd down, converting 8 of 15 attempts into first downs.

The UCF defense stands strong after another great play on October 31, 2020

UCF’s defense had a strong outing themselves, smothering Houston, sacking their QB 3 times and intercepting him twice.

“It was our best defensive effort of the season. I told the guys that in the locker room, the turnovers were big”, said Coach Heupel on his team’s defensive effort.

Next up, UCF hosts the Temple Owls, Saturday November 14th.
